FEMFEST 2016

MARCH 7, 2016
8PM, NORWICH PUPPET THEATRE, NORWICH, £7/£5 (CONC.)

2016 marks the launch of 'FemFest', Minotaur Theatre Company's first Feminist Festival. Branching into the Norwich Community, Minotaur performs at the Norwich Puppet Theatre in a variety evening that looks at the theme of Feminism. This evening will consist of small performances; singing, dancing, spoken word, poetry and physical theatre; all exploring our attitudes to Feminism in 2016. Headlining the evening will be this years Feminist Play, 'The Hours Before Epsom.'

“Tell me, what is the F word to you?”

The Hours Before Epsom’ is a comedic fictional re-imagining of the morning of June the 4th 1913, the day Emily Wilding Davison threw herself in front of the King George’s horse at the Epsom Derby. It’s long since been debated what Emily’s intentions were that day: A courageous final statement in the suffragettes fight for the vote? Or simply a horrific accident? The play attempts to answer this question in the most ridiculous way possible; simultaneously mocking how far we’ve come in terms of gender equality and pointing out how far we’ve got to go.
